For the dogs! Peanut butter butternut squash dog treats

We have these two delightful creatures in our household:

My first time baking dog cookies: peanut butter butternut squash

I finally had a chance to make them some treats with some leftover roast butternut squash. Peanut butter butternut squash! The dogs will eat both peanut butter and squash by themselves as a treat, so these were a hit. They disappeared right away and made for great bribes to leave the pizza guy alone for a few minutes.

Here is the recipe from the Austin Gastronomist

Easy and fast to make. I rolled most of the dough out and cut it into squares, and any odd chunks of dough I just lazily rolled into small balls.

My cookies turned out chunkier than the recipe webste depicts, I think because I used chunky peanut butter and also a chunkier squash puree.

They will last about a week out of the refridgerator.

I'm looking for easy dog treat recipes that don't have wheat flour. If you know any great dog treat recipes, please share!

I really love the way you are treating your dogs. I like pets a lot and feel they are our friends and helper who always ready to do anything for us. We must give good healthy food to pets you are doing the same. This show the love and affection of ...

Love your Bostons, I have an 11 year old rescue, she is a delight. Love the idea of squash (or sweet potatoes!) and peanut butter, I would try a gluten free flour as my Boxer is severely gluten intolerant. Or even no flour, if the squash is meaty enough. Kabocha squash is not watery at all, and so delicious! Thanks for the idea!

There is a link to the recipe between the 2 photos where it says "Here is the recipe..."

Sorry for the confusion, Holly. Yes, thanks Leslie, the recipe is the link between the two photos, or this one:

I'm never sure if it's ok to copy & paste someone else's recipe without asking first, so I took the easy route and linked it!

Also Leslie, I agree that a meaty squash + peanut butter would be awesome! And it's wonderful you have a rescue Boston. They are such sweethearts! Leroy was a stray from the local Humane Society.
